Seeing beyond seeming

How you see is more important
than what you see:
the slant-angle frame captures
a world off-kilter.
See with child-eyes,
clear wide-eyes instead
of rheumy cataracts.
See with curiosity the purposeful
world of scurrying feet
beneath the upturned stone.
See what moves and glows
in the dark: infra-red passion
betrays a beating heart.
Turn your head through 270
if you can, if you can’t –
move your body – it was meant
to move, more flexible
than the owl’s neck, it points
to possibilities.
Really look.
And always
be amazed.

I have been experimenting with water colour – the picture reference is from the work of Jean Haines
